About Tracey Miller
I am Board Certified Holistic Health and Wellness Counselor certified by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the Columbia University’s Teacher College as well accredited with the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). I also studied at the Food Studies Institute, an organization devoted to changing the health destinies of children through proper nutrition and education. My goal is to help people recognize the amazing power of food in creating a happy healthy life!
Prior to my health studies, I worked in global communications for more than ten years at the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (World Bank) in Washington, DC and earned a master’s degree in International Public Policy at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. I continue consult for the World Bank around hygiene promotion, malnutrition and political risk for the World Bank and the Water and Sanitation Program.
I currently work as a holistic health counselor, health and wellness educator, cooking instructor, and a freelance journalist. And, most importantly, I am a wife and mother of a three-year-old daughter.
Eating shouldn’t be confusing
With more than 300,000 food products available in supermarkets, it’s no wonder so many people are confused about what to eat! Unfortunately too much of our food is highly processed and loaded with sugar, fat and salt and it’s led us to a real health care crisis. Kid-friendly foods are sometimes the worst offenders, and manufacturers don’t make it easy by featuring cartoons and super heroes on everything from cookies to yogurts to attract their attention.
Eating healthy is a journey, not a destination
I work with my clients to create a lifestyle of healthy eating that is nourishing instead of focusing on willpower, deprivation and denial. Food is to enjoy! You shouldn’t have to obsess about calories, carbs, fats, proteins – we’ll figure out which foods your body responds to create a lifetime of balance not a quick fix that just won’t work. I have studied all the major dietary theories and will work with you to make gradual, lifelong changes to help you reach your health goals.
The food connection
What you eat has a huge impact on your health and the environment; and the true cost isn’t just what you’re paying at the store. Learning the connection between where your food comes from, how it’s made and its affect on your health is one of the most important things you can do to take control of your life!
