Summer Solstice Dinner Under the Sky

empty tableLast night I ate dinner at Willow Pond Farm with about 50 other CSA members and friends in celebration of the Summer Solstice.  It was a perfect evening and even the weather cooperated cooling down just in time for dinner after a hot day.  It started to sprinkle just minutes after we packed up and headed home.

The food was delicious, mostly from local ingredients, all homemade and I think I had the most awesome strawberry rhubarb crunch I’ve ever had in my life. (Will track down the recipe!) It was fun to see what edible creations we all came up with such as quiche and frittatas with local eggs and greens, kale salad, baked (local) chicken, radishes and snap peas with yogurt dip….

I’ve been to several potluck dinners recently and no matter how many people show up, you always seem to end up with the right amount of entrees, side dishes and desserts.

group shot at tableI’m looking forward to all the summer fare we’ll be getting from three CSAs (Willow Pond, Great Bay CSA and Eastman’s Fish Market) and the local farmers’ markets and lots of potluck dinners to share this wonderful food….hope you’ll do the same…

We even had a cowboy at our down on the farm dinner!
